Every year there are people all over the world who gain significant weight over the Xmas holidays. Yes, I was one among them who would gain 3-4 pounds in mere couple of weeks, and I know people who put-on as much as 10 pounds!

Since there are many treats and festive meals that are associated with this time of year, it is quite easy for someone to allow too many pounds to pack onto their frames. Bring Healthy Dishes To Events

You may have been invited to tons of events and this can cause a lot of stress. The idea of figuring out whether there will be anything healthy to eat is very stressful. You can solve this problem by showing up with a dish of your own. The host will feel like you are doing this in order to be helpful, and only you will know that you are doing it to make sure you have a healthier option.

Be Very Careful When It Comes To Drinks

Everyone always worries about all of the unhealthy foods that are associated with the holidays, but many people forget that the drinks can be just as healthy. For example, eggnog is loaded with fat, calories and a ton of sugar. If you are planning on eating something that is not very healthy, you should probably skip the holiday drinks and opt for something low calorie.

Eat Before You Go

Holiday parties are the enemy of anyone that is struggling to maintain their weight. The best thing to do before attending these parties would be to have a light snack. This will stop you from reaching every time something is offered to you. While it would be okay to have a few nibbles, this will prevent any urges you may have to overindulge.

Don't Sample Too Much

Many people pack on pounds around the holidays because they are constantly cooking and sampling everything as they go. It is necessary to taste food in order to make sure it is seasoned well, but you should not use this as an excuse to overeat. You should only have 1/4 teaspoon here and there to make sure you have found the perfect culinary balance.

Watch Your Portions

If you really cannot resist the urge to enjoy all of the holiday goodies, make sure that you are careful about the size of your portions. Having a cookie or two will not do too much damage, but having a half-dozen can lead to a little extra weight around the middle. Essentially, you can have a little of everything as long as you know when enough is enough.

The holidays are a time when people use excuses for being excessive. It may seem fun at the time, but once Christmas is over the extra weight is nothing to smile about.
